Revolin STARTED WITH A PROBLEM to solve

Revolin began where most great innovations do—with frustration. Our founder, Hugh Davis, was playing competitive pickleball in 2013 and won his first tournament in 2014 with "premium" paddles that kept breaking. These weren't cheap paddles either. They were the top-tier equipment that should have lasted more than a few months.

Engineering + obsession led to 400 prototypes

The breakthrough came during late nights in the University of Michigan's Supermileage labs. While innovating new methods to engineer lightweight and sustainable cars, our founder was introduced to natural materials that could compete with the strength of carbon fiber. And out of the late nights in the lab, a question quietly grew. Could a paddle be made using natural materials?

It wasn’t long before Greta Davis, also a University of Michigan engineering student (and Hugh’s sister) joined the team to help develop a solution. From the jute fibers of old coffee sacks, scrap bamboo sourced from a flooring company, leaf leather, cork, to pineapple bark and more, the team was on a mission to find natural answers to pickleball performance.

What started as curiosity turned into 5+ years of relentless testing. We're talking 250+ material combinations and over 400 prototypes. Every failure taught us something. Every breakthrough brought us closer to paddles that didn't just perform—they endured.

An awe-inspiring vision came into view

Through years of research and development, Revolin's path became evident—to produce the highest performing paddles on the market in a more thoughtful, sustainable way, using advanced material science to achieve both at the same time.

Engineering is how we get there. It’s in Revolin’s DNA. We are engineers, athletes, and nature lovers. We are dedicated to sustainability and driven by competition. At the intersection of pickleball and natural materials, we find our mission: to highlight the power of nature through high-performance products inspired by nature. So that every victory on the court leads to a victory for the earth. And to the legacy we are leaving future generations.
