How Long Should Your Pickleball Paddle Last?

How Long Should Your Pickleball Paddle Last?

The truth is that there isn’t a simple one size fits all answer. Your pickleball paddle’s lifespan depends on many different factors like your play style, level, frequency and even how well you take care of it.

At Revolin, we believe the best paddle is the one that works for you the longest. We see players that have been using our paddles for 2-3 years and some that upgrade every six months. So how do you know when it’s time to retire your trusty paddle? Read on to learn the warning signs!

SURFACE CRACKS

If you see any part of the paddle face that is chipped (beyond just graphics) it’s definitely time for a replacement. Cracking in the corned doesn’t usually hurt performance, but it does put your paddle at greater risk of delamination. Typically these issues are covered by a company’s warranty - so don’t be afraid to reach out.

SMOOTH PADDLE FACE

If you see any part of the paddle face that is chipped (beyond just graphics) it’s definitely time for a replacement. CHANGE IN SOUND AND POWER

If you notice that your paddle is starting to feel or sound different - that's a big warning sign that it's time to say goodbye. Your paddle could be delaminated which means that it is no longer safe to play with. Delaminated paddles typically sound more hollow than intact paddles and the hitting surface will feel quite inconsistent. If you find your drives increasing significantly in power till you feel almost out of control - it's absolutely time for a new paddle.

LOOSE EDGEGUARD

If you notice that your edgeguard isn’t properly attached all the way around your paddle face or if it’s cracking -  it’s probably time to take action. Your paddle will probably still play like normal, but this opens you up to risk of delamination (detached layers) which will make your paddle play differently. The good news is - we can help! If you catch this issue in time, our team can replace your edgeguard and repair the integrity of your paddle.

WORN GRIP

How our paddles feel in our hands is an often overlooked part of a paddle’s lifespan. When your grip wears out and becomes slippery it can increase your likelihood of mishitting the ball. On the bright side, you can easily replace your grip or we can even do it for you!
